Behavior on Windows (Vista) versus Linux (Ubuntu)

:?: After a very pleasing result in free trial on Ubuntu I bought the $50 license and installed also on Windows Vista, where it behaves very differently.

On Ubuntu after opening the BD disc, I was presented with a very helpful list of check boxes for files to be converted to MKV. I clicked okay and it did. Excellent. This was on the free trial version.

On Windows after opening the BD disc, all it will let me do is backup. I seem to get no opportunity to generate a MKV for each file. If I browse into the backup destination I find such files as 00000.m2ts which do play by themselves on VLC. But I'm wanting the output to be the same (MKV files) no matter if I do it from Windows or from Linux.

So then, what am I doing wrong? Or are they truly different? I'm using the exact same USB cabled BD drive, an LG BE-14, on both.

Are you clicking on the big button with the disk on it, which will open the disk (i.e., read it to determine what files can be read)?

The default behavior for MakeMKV is to generate MKV files, NOT to do a backup.

Okay. Newbie faux pas. In the imortal words of Emily Litella, "Never mind."
