Hi, I've been away a while and used to use MakeMKV v1.7.x and had no issues using it but since i've installed the latest version it installs fine and i can rip a DVD/blu-ray fine the first use but if i go back into the application it fails to find an optical drive. I essentially have to reinstall MakeMKV again for it to work and so on...

Is anyone else having this issue? I've tried v1.8.2 and its the same.

I run Windows 8 (Legitimate copy), nothing fancy in terms of the setup and have no issues with any of my other applications which also use the optical drive.

What fixes the "missing drive" - reinstall or reboot? Are you running MakeMKv as administrator (right click, run as administrator) ?

Reinstall fixes the issues, reboot does nothing.

I install the application under my user account which is Administrator and it runs as administrator. I'll try right clicking and running specifically as administrator.

Hi Mike, change the shortcut properties for MakeMKV to "run as administrator" did fix the problem. Thanks for your help.
