[Windows] Application failed to initialize

Short story. Running Win7x64 and 1.7.9 MakeMKV. Worked perfectly. Started messing around with Ubuntu. I haven't booted into windows for quite some time (maybe 3 months or more). I now get an "application failed to initialize" error when trying to start MakeMKV. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, installed 1.7.7 and all give the same result. Is there a log file somewhere I can check?

Verify that all instances of makemkv* files are shut down before doing the reinstall. Under certain circumstances, a copy can be running that will cause the install to fail, but won't give you an error message during the install. When you try to run it, you will get the failed-to-initialize message.

Task Manager is your friend on this, unless you want to do it IMMEDIATELY after a reboot. Check the "Processes" tab for anything with makemkv in the name. End task if you find them.

Then do the reinstall.

Alright I figured it out with the help of some other programs. I had my Windows environmental temp variables set to d:\temp. However there is no longer a D drive. A couple of other programs were more explicit stating "d:\temp" could not be created which led me to this discovery. So no issue with MakeMKV, just me the user.Thanks.
