I have been trying for 3 days now to figure out how to rip dvds to my hard drive, and play them on XBMC. Now after going through some setup guides on XBMC I figured my biggest issue is at the very beginning which is when I rip them. I just tired again looking over another tutorial for Makemkv they all seem to be pretty vague. Here is a screen shot of when I recently tried to rip a dvd.

Do I need to change the minimum title length settings.

Am I clicking the wrong title. I don't know thats why I am here.

Thanks

No, looks like you ticked all the right boxes.

1. Verify that you can write to the Movies folder on that drive, or set it to write to a folder on your C: and try to save to that.

2. If that didn't give any clues, switch on debugging and try again.

How do I verify that I can write to the movies folder, This is my 4th attempt the first 2 I left everything checked and they were copied to my movies folder just not seamless. The last 2 only do it as a title00, or title 01.

Though I will look into that, how do I go about doing that "debugging"

Thanks for your help I will try some of these tips.

I was able to rip it to my c drive with no problem. I then tried to transfer it to my external hard drive and when I did it told me the file was to large, about 4.5 gb how is it to big when I have 300 gigs of free space. Is there some sort of setting that I might be able to change.

You've probably got your external drive formatted in FAT32, which has a filesize limit of 4GB.

You need to reformat in NTFS or one of the other formats that allows for large files.

That is exactly what the problem was, I have done this and everything works great.

Thanks for all your help.
