broken up picture.

Hello I am new to the world of ripping and new to here ,so hi.
I have started to rip my collection of BD,s and DVD and i am using XBMC for playback .
My question is (and I sorry if this has been covered before) most of my BD'S rip perfectly opting to only rip the main title and Lossless soundtrack however certain discs that I have tried to rip have broken up picture(pixalated) mostly to the bottom of the screen and a pinky red colour.
I have deleted and ripped again but with the same result (titles include ,Casino Royal ,The Expendables) while like i say most are perfect.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or know why this happens,
be very grateful
best regards........

Hi!

More often than not, that's due to either a dirty disc, a dirty drive, or a less-than-securely seated videocard...

Thanks for your reply but the discs are spotless the drive is brand new and I don't have a video card (integrated graphics Intel I5) and also they playback perfectly on PDV11.
Are there any settings I should look out for in Make MKV ?
As I said I am having about 80% success where the rips are flawless ,the other 20% are punctuated by colourful pixel brake up ,not all the time just on and off but unwatchable all the same.
Anyone got any other ideas please???

Sounds like a codec issue. The ones that are breaking up...VC1?

Now you come to mention it no ,my latest failure was 'The Expendables' and that is MPEG 4..... :?
The ones with VC1 have been OK....

So maybe look into that as a possible issue with your player. Seems plausible.

They say that XBMC can handle pretty much handle all Codecs.....so..

The problem is, I have several of the movies on your list, and makemkv worked perfectly on them. I use J River MC17, personally.
