Max 2.2x BluRay read speed - SE-406AB

Hi
I have an external USB2 Samsung SE-406AB drive. Using the latest MakeMKV (in direct access mode), I can't get more than 2.2X read.
This means it takes well over an hour.
I've read about rip locks - but a) I don't know if this drive has one, or b), if it does, I can't find a custom firmware as I can for others.
Any guidance gladly received.
