MakeMKV is not able to recognize and copy text subtitles

I know I can do this using mkvtoolnix, but it would be much easier to do it with MakeMKV. No need to check the mkv file with mkvinfo, write extraction script, and then re-merge it again. I often do this to get rid of dutch or french subtitles/audio which is set as default. That also saves a bit of disc space. MakeMKV does unfortunately not recognize any text/utf8 subtitles, and my WD WinTV Media player does not play BluRay subs, so the subtitle handling in MakeMKV is no use to me. I hope this can be corrected soon. It's a nice tool, and I would buy it, but not before it handles subtitles in a way that's useful for my use.

Which do you want corrected, the lack of support for PGS subtitles in the WD players, or the lack of support for SRT subtitles in MakeMKV? Do people author DVDs and BDs with SRT subtitles? Something else I've not seen before...
Are you aware that the "nightly build" versions of Handbrake can read PGS subtitles and burn them into MP4 files, which should then be viewable on the WD players? Alternatively, you can have it read an SRT file and create an MP4-compatible subtitle stream, tossing out the PGS subtitles completely.

This sounds like you should be using MKVtoolnix rather than MakeMKV anyway, for this kind of post-rip process.
