Samsung SE-506 BD Drive Slow

This portable USB 2.0 drive is rated at 6X Read for BD-ROM. With MakeMKV on the Mac with daspi installed, I only get 1.4X-3.0X read. Any ideas how I can get it to go faster?
Usually those read speeds are for single layer discs, which can be significantly faster than duel layer discs, which most movies come on.
You may wish to look into altering the firmware of the drive with something like MediaCodeSpeedEdit, just don't brick your drive.
