Subtitles do not appear on TV

When I stream a MKV file from my PC to my TV using Serviio and an MKV file made using MakeMKV I cannot access subtitles. If anyone knows a way to do this I would be very appreciative.

A quick search pulled up this:

So you would have to convert the subtitle file in the mkv to an external srt file. And you have to have one of the supported devices listed for that to work.
Check out suprip. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the process of extracting subtitles from mkv's, which can be done with mkvtoolnix.
