Been reading a few topics on this.

One thing I'm not quite clear on - does MakeMKV install this automatically by itself or do I need to install it manually?

If manually, where's the recommended place to download it from?

The DASPI install package is included in the DMG with MakeMKV when you download it. You install MakeMKV by dragging it to your Applications folder. You install DASPI separately by double-clicking the DASPI install package. It will guide you through the steps to install DASPI.

I'm on a PC with XP

The DASPI extension is for Mac OS X only. It's not relevant to MakeMKV under Windows.
