The disk you're trying to rip probably does not have a "forced subtitle" TRACK. MakeMKV offered to create one if there were any subtitles in the normal subtitle track that have the "forced" flag set. If that track is empty (usually the case), it will be deleted as unneeded.
Many disks will offer multiple tracks for a given language, and (on Bluray disks) there will be additional "forced only" tracks created-then-destroyed if any subtitles have the forced flag set. Turns out, one of the TRACKS is considered the forced-subtitle track in the menus.
The disks I'm ripping right now have multiple English subtitle tracks, one of which is much smaller than the other and contains the forced-only subtitles. None are FLAGGED as forced, they just are the track that the menus display when you select English as the audio track.

Thank you for your response, but this isn’t the first time I’ve ripped a film where the forced subtitles are missing, and when I process it with Eac3to, they appear as if by magic.
So I wanted to know whether this is a recurring issue or not.
