I bought the software, but do I just install the latest from here? Also when I go to install it I get a warning saying it will put my PC at risk. Is this normal?

So is this normal about the PC warning ?
"Windows protected your PC
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.
App:
Setup_MakeMKV_v1.17.9.exe
Publisher:
Unknown publisher

Download it from
https://makemkv.com/download/ and ignore all errors.
Microsoft's determination to scare people for profit has become so pervasive that it has become the safe default to ignore any and all Microsoft warnings. Clearly this isn't a good thing, but it's the sandbox Microsoft has built.

Except in exceedingly rare cases,
https://makemkv.com/download/ will offer the latest/greatest version of MakeMKV.
& Windows is barking about "Publisher: Unknown publisher". Not any detected threat, just a potential. "Signed" software is a convenience, but an added expense for devs (virtually) giving away their work for free.
"False positive" detections also happen. When in doubt, report it to the security vendor that detected/reported/blocked it & let them sort it out.
