MakeMKV wont work.

Post by EFFXCT »

I tried using MakeMKV to remove certain audio tracks and subtitles from an MKV I ripped a while back (Top Gun Maverick) but every time I click MakeMKV the app just freezes and crashes. I do not have an optical drive. I'm using and old MKV I made using MakeMKV and I can also use the BDMV Backup which i stored in an external HDD. The MKV file is on the same SSD as to where I'm trying to output the modified one. Here are the log files:

Code: Select all

My hardware is
Laptop: HP 15-dy1043dx
CPU: i5-1035G1 @ 1.00Ghz to 3.6Ghz
RAM: 12GB SODIMM DDR4 2667Mhz
SSD: Samsung 980 500GB
HDD: WD Black P10 2.5in 2TB
OS: Windows 11 24H2

Also using latest version of MakeMKV v1.17.8 (x64)

Please help me!

Also a day before it was working fine although very slow and I wasn't even using an optical drive just the BDMV backup in the SSD mentioned above. It was taking so long almost 14hrs for just modifying an MKV not even ripping. the read rate was 648.6K/s [0.1x] and the MKV is just 75GB and my hardware is pretty good (I think) for this job. Am I missing something or doing something wrong, because I've seen people with older and older CPU, less RAM, and using a HDD instead of an NVme SSD on Youtube and it is significantly faster than mine. The videos I've seen have a read rate of [52x] (Not ripping but modifying the already ripped MKV.) They had an i5 6th Gen so i think my hardware is better for this but i may be wrong.

Please any help would be very appreciated I just want this to work!

Okay I'll use MKVToolnix for modifying the MKV, but what about the slow speeds? Is there a way to make it faster?

If I remember right some others had this problem with the slow speed working from HDD / SSD. Reverting to an older version of Makemkv helped.

Okay thank you I tried it yesterday with a BDMV of Fast and Furious 2001 I had at it worked flawlessly [52x] all the way it only took like 2min to make the mkv, so I think it was Top Gun Maverick but I'll try also the older version.

Thank you for the help!
