DVD ripping regression in current versions of MakeMKV

There appears to be a ripping regression in the current versions of MakeMKV. I'm having the error described in this thread viewtopic.php?t=32954 with a copy of The BFG. By downgrading to 1.16.7 as suggested, I'm able to open and read the disc just fine. For what it's worth, the disc is immaculate.
I'm lucky to be able to have a paid license and a couple of machines to maintain 2 versions but not everyone will.
I'm willing to submit info or even post the physical disc as I no longer need it if you want to get this working again.
