MakeMKV won't decrypt disc with KEYDB entry

I'm trying to decrypt the disc from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=35984

I've copied over the KEYDB file to the MakeMKV folder but the app still says the volume key is unknown and won't decrypt the disc. I know the key is valid because an encrypted backup will play in VLC with libaacs/KEYDB set up. Is this a bug in MakeMKV?

Makemkv requires that a vuk be present in the keydb entry in order to use it. In many cases for UHD, a vuk may not be available and only unit keys are present. Libaacs will use the unit key which is why VLC will work, but makemkv will not. If you want a solution to this problem for this and future titles, I recommend xreveal in addition to makemkv. Xreveal will use the unit key to real time decrypt the disc, and then you can use makemkv to process it. Ignore the warning about third party decryption that makemkv throws up. It'll work just fine.

Otherwise you have to wait until either the keydb gets a vuk for your disc or makemkv adds support for it natively.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'm on Linux and trying to run Xreveal in a VM doesn't seem to work correctly for me. (It thinks the pass-through drive never has a disc inserted. Stuff like MakeMKV and Passkey work in the VM so I think it's a Xreveal issue.)

I was able to decrypt an encrypted backup using this tool: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=173796 After decryping the m2ts files and moving them back over the encrypted ones in the encrypted dump I was able to make a MKV from them.
