Rip Menu/Access Menu File

This post is mostly in regards to 4K discs, but also applies to regular 1080p Blu Rays as well.

I usually don’t rip the entire disc but rather just the main movie and language/subtitle options for high quality playback on my Zidoo media player. I sometimes have a hard time finding high res posters/background art and often would like to use the image from the disc menu. A lot of times it’s just a static image, I’m just wondering if there is a way to access the disc menu photo or video so I could use that as my background art. I realize I could rip the entire disc as an ISO and perhaps make a screenshot in a video player. Just wondering if menu content is usually stored somewhere on the disc that MakeMKV can easily rip?

If you make a decrypted backup of the disc, you can access all the files on the disc. The /BDMV/STREAM/ folder will have all video files contained on the disc.

I rarely have a hard time finding high quality posters, however. Sometimes I find posters I like here: https://bendodson.com/projects/itunes-a ... index.html That site searches Apple's iTunes store for the poster art they use. There place I look is https://www.themoviedb.org/, which very often has a decent choice.

Thank you so much! This was very helpful, I found the menu picture I was looking for right away. Appreciate the poster links as well. A lot of times the background art is harder to find due to how the Zidoo menus are laid out and the way the art needs to fit. I have several resources now, thanks again!

That iTunes artwork finder also gets the 'new' widescreen format Apple uses these days.
