MKV versus handbrake

I've been ripping DVDs for a little while using Makemkv and then handbrake. In handbrake what is the best preset to use for say Top gun Maverick.

Also is it an advantage to use handbrake over just using Makemkv. TIA

Noob!

i mean you dont really need to shrink a dvd any more they are so small
just use makemkv without handbreak 18 TB HDDs are at $12 a TB when they are on a good deal.
i would rather the original quality and take up more space.

I definitely have enough space at 40tb. Same here with quality. Thank you!!!!

Handbrake is a transcoder, not a ripper. Even to overcome CSS you have to use a third party library. Many protections can screw with the correct title finding within Handbrake.

Often enough when there is a problem with a DVD in the Handbrake forums, it's "use MakeMKV first" and then "that worked!" :D
