4K BDAV DISC recorded on a Panasonic Blu-ray recorder cannot be ripped

Post by nobusan7 »

MakeMKV 1.17.3 for Windows does not correctly rip 4K BDAV DISC recorded on a Panasonic Blu-ray recorder (model: DIGA DMR-4W400).
If there is only 4K contents in one DISC, it cannot be ripped. Backups end without any errors, but it seems that the video files are not decrypted.
However, if I mix 4K contents and 2K contents in one DISC, the 4K contents can be ripped. One title is sufficient for this 2K content, and it can be of any length. the 4K and 2K content can be in any order. Of course, the 2K content can be ripped as well.

The symptoms are almost the same for all three BD drives listed below.

However, as additional information, the Pioneer drive, which is the LibreDrive mentioned above, gives the following error message when ripping is successful.
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:SYSTEM RESOURCE FAILURE' occurred while issuing SCSI command A40..002000800 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'
When ripping fails, on the contrary, there is no error message.
By the way, the other two BD drives do not give any error messages when ripping succeeds or fails.

Do you know the cause of this problem?
