My WH16NS40 is dying, will a new WH16NS40 still rip BD disks in makemkv even if it has FW newer than 1.02 such as 1.03, 1.04, or 1.05?

For that matter would a Pioneer BDR-209BDK, BDR-212V or BDR-212DBK be a better replacement drive for BD rips, UHD rips are not specifically needed.
