Hi. I'm fairly new to MakeMKV, so I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong or right.

I used MakeMKV once one or two years ago, and I remember that it was perfectly fine and very easy to use.
And now I'm trying to use it again today (with the latest version), but I'm failing miserably.

When I double-click the MakeMKV icon, nothing happens for a minute.
And suddenly this message appears.


And when I click the OK button, the program appears, but I can't click anything but 'Open files' button.


I've tried some of the things that I can think of. I opened the program with 'Run as administrator', I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, I entered the registration key on this forum.
But nothing changed.

What am I doing wrong? Please help.

I don't use MakeMKV on Windows, so I'm just guessing. Do you have an optical drive attached to your computer? If not, other than opening existing files, there's not much for MakeMKV to do.

I do have an optical disc drive connected with USB. This is the same set up with that one time I used MakeMKV last year. I'm playing dvds and bds with video players right now. Only MakeMKV doesn't work for me.

only other thing i can suggest when you reinstalled it did you redownload it? i would try that incase the download is messed up.

Still experiencing the same error. Tried latest version, the same error. Any solutions, please?

Maybe your windows install is messed up could try the basic steps to try and fix it sfc /scannow
Chkdsk /f
You may just need a new windows install too never see anyone else with this problem could also be your av blocking it
