Rip speed not what is shown in MakeMKV

Post by FumoVite »

Hello,

i just got a BH16NS55, makemkv says it is ripping a blu ray disc at around 8x, but the calculated speed seems to only be at 4x.
Is there something i am missing?

Kind Regards

Are you looking at the instantaneous rip speed, or the overall rip speed? Overall will be less than max, because it starts out at regular speed and builds up. The instantaneous speed will show what it currently is.

Where exactly do i see instantaneous speed? I have just been looking at "Read rate".

I flashed the WH16NS60 firmware onto it, still getting same speeds.
Currently getting about 3.3x on an UHD disc.

Update:

after changing the Speed Setting in the config file to 0=99 i now get better speeds at about 5x.
Still not nearly as fast as it should be afaik.

What you see depends on several factors. I've seen the number change radically depending on what I'm ripping. A movie will show a higher speed than a TV series, for the most part, because the drive spends more time reading the disk.
