Limp Mode [2.0X]

Apologies if this has been asked before (I tried to search but it said I needed more words).

Why does MakeMKV go into (what I call) "Limp Mode"?

It gets stuck at [2.0X] read speed and there's no way to get it to read faster again unless I eject the disc, close the program and start over, which of course, means I lose all my setup parameters.

I can't see any particular reason it does this, except it almost always does so in the morning on the first rip of the day. Apart from that it does this with new discs, old discs, clean discs, and dirty discs (I'm starting to sound like Dr Seuss) and of course, always at the most inconvenient time!

When it happens I can abandon the setup, eject the disc, restart the program, re-do all the setup and it will (most of the time) read at full speed, so it can't even be an issue with the disc.

This behaviour is really annoying, it means that it takes over an hour to rip a disc which normally would only take twenty minutes (in fact, it's doing it right now as I type).

Is there any way I can turn off this "Limp Mode"?
