Format for episodes?
Format for episodes?
I used to use a website that told how to format episodes so that apps could correctly display things like Season x, Episode y and maybe title names, etc. I'm using InFuse on AppleTVs but I can't get it to read the files properly. My server is a UnRaid 12TB array which is accessible on my LAN. I thought about switching to Plex but installing that on my server seems complicated. Is there a good resource for my needs?

Some programs use the file names, others use metadata in the file. Most DLNA servers fall in the latter category.
If you have MakeMKV running in Expert mode, you can configure the metadata prior to starting the rip. There's a topic in the general forum about that. I typically use the show name, season number, and episode, as in:
Castle S1 E07.mkv
Brain Games S3 E01.mkv
If it's a BD title, the E changes to HD.
By default, MakeMKV copies whatever is in the Name field to the title metadata. You can use the mkvtoolnix header editor to modify the title portion of the header to be whatever you want, after the fact.

I'm pretty sure there's a way you can name stuff that'll work in both, which gives you flexibility to change from Infuse to Plex and back again without having to spend hours renaming files.
Like Woodstock, I get the names right in MakeMKV before I make my 'final' .mkv file. I also name commentary audio tracks appropriately and any subtitles that need to be identified (like subtitles for the commentary track).
