Hi Mike / other board moderators:
I've noticed many more spam posts than usual, lately. Are there any plans to increase board security to reduce this annoyance?
Marc

This board runs on latest version and uses recaptcha screening - still they manage to register. I guess it's all about dedication.

There are many spammers that actually posts manually at various forums. Stopping them automatically will be pretty much impossible.
Another popular method for postng spam, is to set up a porn site, and repost the captcha on that site. The users on the porn site will type in the captcha to get access to free porn, and then the spamposting script will take what their users typed to get access to the forum.
One possible solution would be to allow multiple reports from forum users on the same message, and automatically hide messages that has been flagged as spam by more than 10 users. A moderator will still have to confirm if the message is spam. Also, one could revoke the user's posting rights if more than 5 messages from the same user, posted within 24 hours, has been flagged as spam.
(but, I guess you don't really want to spend time hacking phpBB, so I guess these ideas belong in a different forum

)
