USB Controller issue

Post by dcb1973 »

I recently moved from a broken down desktop to a newer laptop that lacks an optical drive.
I bought a USB to SATA controller to allow my old desktop BD-ROM to be used on my laptop.
The OS (Win10) sees the drive and I can parse files on it, however MakeMKV seems unable to address the drive.
The controller/Drive in Device Manager shows as ASMedia ASM105x USB Device.
Is the fact that this isn't showing up as the old BD-ROM my issue?
If so, anyone know if a way for me to fudge it so it shows up in MakeMKV?

Most likely you are experiencing the "enhanced ransomware protection" of Windows 10, which defaults to denying access to removable drives by non-Microsoft-approved programs. You can usually find the way around it by searching for "windows 10 ransomware exception".

If this is not a solution please check back here. Your USB adapter might need a firmware upgrade.

Sorry for the really late reply...

It ended up that I needed to run the app in admin mode because of UAC.
