Hello --- from the prefs screen I see that makemkv can be used in other apps like vlc ---- is there a simple copy program that can be use to make a file by file copy of a dvd? If not is there an API that can be used to write a simple copy program? Thanks

You really don't need a special program to copy a DVD file-by-file. Explorer (windows) or Finder (mac) can do it.

If you're asking about decrypting as it goes... MakeMKV won't do that. On DVDs, the only option is converting them to MKV files. DVDs and BDs usually aren't stand-alone files you can copy and use, anyway.
