I guess this is to mike...

Please see the debug log below - this is for a file rip done via anydvd to hard drive. I run makemkv against it with onyl the debug switch and get the following log:

Can you tell me what the issue is?

Note: on my second encoding machine, it works just fine...

You're a version behind - http://www.makemkv.com/download/Setup_M ... v1.6.3.exe

Not much point troubleshooting an old version.

yeah i know that, but my two machines are both running 1.6.2 so i thought it useful for a like by like compare. Given 1 machine works and the other does not....

i will update and check again on both machines and post the log.

@mcmusic

Hi!
this is for a file rip done via anydvd to hard drive.

Instead, with NO other programs running, load your original, commercial blu-ray disc into MakeMKV - and use MakeMKV to BOTH decrypt and backup...

Thanks...but.....,

That I cannot do. My workflow requires that I rip in bulk to HDD with anydvd. This is an automated process.

I then use makemkv to, well, make mkv files from my rips.

And per previous post I use two machines with the same version of makemkv and the same rip. One works and one fails, so if anyone can provide me with what this debug log means it would be of great use.....

I use a paid up fully licensed version of make mkv btw.

1) Then you run the risk of having problems on an ongoing basis, as at this and many other forums (as well as statements by the MakeMKV author), conflicts between MakeMKV and AnyDVD have been noted.

2) What does your usual workflow have to do with trying what I suggested, in order to track down this specific problem?

I understand the risks, my success rate is high, I accept that there can be issues from time to time with anydvd/makemkv. I am simply looking for an explanation of this debug log, nothing more.

I know the disc will work with a direct makemkv pass without anydvd.

What I am asking here is very specific - an explanation of that exact debug log for that exact issue. I have carried out the trouble shooting and it is infinitley repeatable.

Again: same disc, ripped with anydvd , same version of makemkv, one PC works, one does not. Surely a simple analysis of the debug log can point the issue out?

Incorrect rip. Your disc copy is missing some required blu-ray folders. Did you delete any empty folders from HDD? Can you please post the list of all files you have?

Code: Select all

dir /s
p.s. You can make a full disc backup from makemkv, from command line.

Thanks Mike

That has solved the mystery a little...

The second machine only has BDMV\STREAM present , no other anciliary directories. So my question is, what needs to be present for makmkv to find it 'valid' . I was pretty sure before in testing that it only need that folder to run.

I can't use the command line grab as the system is robotic and needs a two way communication for error trapping.

in some other scripts I produce at my blog, I do use makemkv via command line for single grabs, which works great, its just that in this robotic scenario it's not tight enough for me.
