Steps to back up my 4K/UHD movie discs to BD-R discs? Atmos, DV, dts:X, HDR??

Post by njweb »

I have MakeMKV.
I have an UHD BD-R drive (Aragon flashed to LG BU40N firmware) that works for converting my original Blu Ray discs to MKV files.
I have some blank 50GB BD-R DL discs on the way.
I have tsMuxER.
:?:
Goal:
I would like to back up my original 4K and non 4K Blu Ray movie discs to BD-R discs so I can play the BD-R and preserve my original discs and prevent them from being damaged / scratched, especially some which are limited editions etc.

Questions:
1. Steps required: Can I simply take the .mkv file created by makemkv, convert it to BD-R ISO using TSMuxeR and then burn the ISO to a 50GB BD-R using my LG BU40N and ImgBurn?
Anything I am missing?

2) My understanding is Atmos audio is supported and retained by makemkv? So burning it to BD-R retains the Atmos track?
Is dts:X also supported by makemkv?

3) I see Dolby Vision seems to be supported by makemkv now; anything special I need to be aware of?
How about HDR support; does Makemkv have it?

4) Can I assume that 'DVDFab UHD Copy' does nothing more than what makemkv, tsMuxeR and ImgBurn combined can do?
DVDFab UHD Copy mentions Dolby Vision and HDR are supported; does makemkv support both?

Thanks!
