When is Necessary or Prudent to Re-Rip

Assuming that a BR or UHD disk ripped in a prior version (I have rips back to at least MakeMKV V1.9.0), are that any old versions that were found to have an issue where re-ripping would be recommended? I was reading the forum topic on V1.15.4 and its improvements. So overall, with all of the updates, is there any guidance as to when to re-rip? I tried to see if I could find the answer but didn't.

When you need to re-encode something you processed after MakeMKV, and tossed out the original rip. For example, you want to change how you dealt with interlacing or subtitles in handbrake, and don't have the original MKV file handy, you have to re-rip.
If you have the original MKV file, the only reason to "re-rip" is when you've purchased a BD or UHD version of something you originally got in DVD format.

If you have a UHD with Dolby Vision and it was ripped before 1.15.3 and you want the Dolby Vision… then you need to re-rip. (IIRC, if it was ripped with 1.15.2, that might be a special case.) If the UHD does not have Dolby Vision, then you do not need to re-rip.
