problem with dvd rips

I have a problem with some dvds ripped to hard disk. When I try to open the IFO file I get the following messages;
This happened in 1.6.2 both Windows and OS X. Just upgraded to 1.6.3 and I have the same problem, again both Windows and OS X. I use RipIt on OS X however not all rips have this problem. Any suggestions?
