..., there is a fast and simple way to convert such copy into encrypted MakeMKV backup that can be opened by MakeMKV later. See our forum for details.
www.makemkv.com/errors/read/

Sorry for post but I can't for the life of me find directions on how to convert file that has been copied to my hard drive. Can someone point me in the direction of where this is in the forums?

Use the MakeMKV "Open File" menu selection.

For Blu-ray select the index.bdmv file.

For DVD, select video_ts.ifo.

Did MakeMKV create the folder structure? If so, there should be an index.bdmv file. If MakeMKV could not copy that file to the disk, it would have invalidated the whole backup.

BDMV is a folder!

Did you look into the BDMV folder? The index.bmmv is located there (in case of an MakMKV backup)
