Setup_MakeMKV_v1.14.5.exe
One engine detected this file: Jiangmin: Trojan.Generic.bqsr
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/2be ... /detection
How do we know this is a false positive or something dangerous?

Do a forum search on "virustotal", and you'll find the answer given many times.
The testers they use are not 100% accurate. If you are at all suspicious, submit the URL to your favorite AV vendor (or the file itself, if they don't accept URLs) for review. Usually you can get an answer within a few hours; the worst I've seen with AVG is 36 hours. CHECK the digital signature on the file, to verify that it matches what's on the website.
If you check, VirusTotal will give different "hits" for "submit URL" and "upload file". The file signature should be identical, either way.

The preponderance of reports indicate a clean file. Avast & MBAM both scan the freshly downloaded file clean on my systems. I'm gonna go out on a limb & declare the report an outlier... False Positive. Your call on how you proceed.

Jiangmin said it's a false alarm and they unflagged it.
