I have tried to read a DVD with my DVD player device throught a USB port but MakeMKV didn,'t recognize it. Is it normal ?

That depends a lot on the DVD drive and your operating system.

What type drive is it? What operating system? Does the operating system treat it as a drive, or a "device"?
