New BR drive, is this rip speed sound right?

LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter WH14NS40
I expected faster since the drive is a 14x but I know other factors could be at play. My old drive was a USB Buffalo with 6X read speed. I never really paid attention prior but thought it was faster. This is saying ripping at 3.2X speed 13+M/s.
Thanks

I have this same drive and the best speed I can get is up to 7X close to 8X. I have not experienced the "rip lock" issue where it's stuck at 2x speeds and I rip new releases from Netflix all the time. Some Blu-ray discs do rip quite a bit slower.
Edit: what Woodstock said is what I experience. I am ripping "Concussion" (Netflix) as a test and am already seeing 6X about 50% complete with the ripping process. My rips take about 20 - 25 min for most BDs.

A lot depends upon where in the BD it is reading. The "max speeds" are just that - the top speed you CAN see, but not what you'll see on a regular basis.
The further from the center of the disk, the more bits there are in the media, and the more data that is read for each rotation of the disk. When you're reading a long title, the speed will usually increase as it goes on, reaching the "data rich outer reaches" of the disk.
