When I try to download the latest version, it won't let me open it because it says the version is outdated.

Same for me. Just downloaded today (windows version). Ran it once. Closed it. Reopened later and get this message:

"This application version is too old. Please download the latest version at / or enter a registration key to continue using the current version."

PS in the main window when I get that message it shows: MakeMKV v1.10.2 win(x64-release) started

Edit: found the answer. You need to past the registration key found here:

Under "news and announcements" the post titled "MakeMKV is free while in beta" has the key good thru jan 2017
