Start by trying to play the file with VLC (from videolan.org). VLC understands far more audio encodings than Windows Media Player (or whatever they're calling it now). Do you have audio? Is there more than one audio track? (Audio, Audio Track in the menu)

DVDs and especially Blurays can include audio encodings that your player does not understand, OR decides to hand off to another device, via the HDMI or DVI cable. You may have to rearrange the order of the audio tracks if your player won't let you select a more compatible track.

Hi Guys
Woodstock you are right windows media player doesn't seem to recognize the audio, I haven't tried VLC but when I tried the same MKV file using CyberLink PowerDVD12 it worked fine with perfect audio. :D
