Windows Exploer Stops Working with MKV files

Hi All,

I just downloaded MakeMV Beta Build 650 and ripped a test using the Michael Clayton DVD. The rip was very fast.

However if I try to open and view the file with MPCstar MPCstar fails.

Also, if I try to use a WIndows Explorer to browse to the folder, Explorer immediately dies and restarts. And will continue to do this on any drive I try to store the MKV file on using a Command Prompt window and a manual copy.

Once the MKV file is delete everything returns to normal.

Anybody have any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

I am running Vista.

Thanks,

Mike

This really sounds like an old version of haali splitter. haali splitter is a third-party component that decodes MKV on windows. It is not related to MakeMKV in any way. Please google on "haali" or "CCCP" and update your codecs. In any case MakeMKV just produces MKV files, it does not installs any codecs or explorer extensions. Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,

Your diagnosis was right on!

I updated those codecs and the problem went away. Makemkv is awesome! Damn fast. You've got a convert here. :-)

Thanks for taking the time to help me with a non-makemvk issue.

Mike
