does anydvd help makemkv work better? I have error issues on a few films and thinking maybe anydvd could help? Do you run anydvd before you rip or just have it running in the background?

do not use anydvd+makemkv. makemkv does not need it and can cause issues.

i load anydvd but disable it just so i can get full speed rip
it would be nice if makemkv had a drive speed setting so i could dump anydvd all together

The discussion about how to reduce the file size, between my self and skittle. Was moved to

http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1328

Due to fact that it really diverged too much from the "Drive Speed" question.

I have the iHES206, and see the same thing. Yet for me even with Anydvd(HD) I'm only seeing about 2.5x

UPDATE:
After some more testing I'm finding that nothing is reading from this drive at over 2.5X. So for me on this PC with this drive, it's got nothing to do with MakeMKV.
