Dolby TrueHD, mlp and MKV

My OPPO 103D will play MKV files from an external Hard drive, so I am converting my 5.1 music files to .MKV. However, when converting Dream Theater's Dream Theater it shows the audio file as DD (it is a Dolby TrueHD file). After a MakeMKV conversion, it won't play in VLC and Hand Brake won't recognize the file. I extracted the audio as a .mlp file using "DVD Audio Extractor" (unfortunately the OPPO 103 doesn't support .mlp) . Do I need to add a Dolby TrueHD codec? Can I put the .mlp file in an MKV container or do I need to convert it to a DD TrueHD file first?
