will mkv file play on bluray player?

anyone know if i burn the mkv file to dvd will it play on blurayplayers?

Very, very likely not.

There are presently very few standalone players (and I presume you're asking about a standalone player) that will play .MKV files -some OPPO models for one

The only one that I have witnessed this working on directly in the .MKV container is the Oppo Blu-Ray player. Quality was very pleasant!

mkv files from DVD (VOB) work great on the OPPO BDP-83. Blurays cause the player to hang after a few minutes. OPPO is still working on the DLNA thing. Have you had any success with HD MKVs ?
