If you want to buy one, you can do it here and you'll never see that message again:
http://makemkv.com/buy/

If you want to have to enter a new key every 30 days and not show your support for the program, you can get the free key here:

Home Theater PC: Assassin HTPC, XBMCbuntu 12.0 (Frodo), Intel i5 3570k 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge w/ HD 4000, LG BD-ROM
Playback Devices: Mede8er MED600X3D, MyGica EnjoyTV 120, Xtreamer SideWinder 3, Crystal Acoustics MediaMatchBox

Buy a key here which never expires:
/buy/

Or enter the free key here which does expire:

OK, I just purchased a registration key because I like the software and want to support the developer. But, I've tried to enter the registration key 3 times and each time I get the message that it is not valid. What do I do next?

Make sure you're copying the whole key and it's not getting cut short.

That's $50 for life. As in every time the studios don't want you to be able to use your media the way you want, and MakeMKV gets updated to handle the new DRM schemes.

Of course you can use the free key and if it expires while Mike is off on vacation and doesn't update it, then you're out of luck, or try AnyDVD HD for the free trial period of 30 days.

If it is $50 to buy, why does it translate to $A71.30 ? and you thought $50 was steep
