Is makeMKV PowerDVD Essential-Friendly?

I was thrilled when I found that makeMKV could enable VLC to play BD movies. That player has excellent and easily accessible slow motion control, though its zoom control, which I find invaluable for managing aspect ratio content issues, is unbearably clunky.

I didn’t install JRiver player, but I read that you can’t do slow motion without disabling video clock, which would likely cause loss of video and audio sync, though I don’t need sound when doing slow motion. I think you can do zoom in/out on JRiver merely by using the keyboard’s +/- keys, though does anyone know how to center the zoomed in image on the screen?
