What is the deal with the KEY?

The "news" forum says that MakeMKV will be free while in Beta. There is another post that gives an updated key (valid through end of July - that's today!).

The software gives me some instructions that aren't quite clear:
First it says my "version" is out of date, and that I should download a new version : I did this; I have 1.18.1 (just downloaded today)
Second, I enter the key from the post (T-iyhMMBV8nWtNo3BgMdcvypH8UL01nYmww2zFzQDtiZsdJUOaAuCURsPRQ1Hj3i75RE) which is supposed to be valid through today.
Third, I'm instructed to re-start MakeMKV
Fourth, after re-starting, I go back to step 1!!

What is going on, please??

Same issue here... Downloaded the latest version, installed it, and still get the "outdated" notice, and inability to activate. I will keep checking for an answer.

I've just downloaded 1.18.1 for the first time (not used MakeMKV since 2020 plus done a complete rebuild on my PC since then) and all i'm getting is This application is too old. please download the latest version at http://www.makemkv.com/ or enter registration key to continue using the current version."
However i've not had the software on this computer since upgrading to windows 11 a few year ago. even then i did it as a fresh install and not an upgrade.

So my question is how can i use it if its telling me my software is out of date before its first use?
i'm not happy about paying for software that i don't know if its even going to work!

If you use the forum correctly like any other forum on the planet and do a simple search you would see that today is the first. The key will be updated in a few days so until then hang tight, this key is also suppose to be used as a trial period in which you purchase a key afterward. So there's your answer, this question has now been answered for this month... cant wait to see it again next month..

I checked the FAQs about the key. I haven't been using the software for long enough to have encountered this before, but the post states that the new key sometimes takes a while to be posted.

Purchased a lifetime Key a few hours ago but haven't received the actual key yet. Anyone experienced similar? Been using the Beta for many years now and it's such a great piece of software.

Well, I was prepared to purchase a key as waiting a couple days and dealing with the beta key has proven worth dropping $50-60 to avoid.
But with reports of multiple users not receiving their purchased key, I will just wait!

My beta key stopped working yesterday, and now it's two days without a new key. After reading all of these people saying they never got a permanent key, and the beta key hasn't been posted, I'm convinced I should never buy a permanent key. It's pointless buying software that can just stop working, or you risk never getting the activation code!

This seems to be unusual. Apparently, there have been delays in the past with renewing the beta key. But the permanent keys are (according to what another post said) supposed to be sent from the payment gateway. Did you check your spam folder?

I just tried to see about purchasing a key because a disc I ordered on Prime day finally arrived. The order page states, "The action is temporarily unavailable."

We are all in the same boat with these software keys. I myself also purchased a key the other day for $60, well $65.25 after fees. I have also received two emails from the payment processing site regarding the payment has been made and my details and that I must contact the support address to be provided the key. For me it has now been 3 Days without a follow up to my email for the key. I'll give it a few more days before I make reports of fraud.
