No sound

Post by Figure4 » Sun Jul 27, 2025 4:33 am

Can anybody help. Let me start by saying that I am not computer savvy, but I make an effort. I watched this video a few months ago and was able to start ripping my own blurays to an external hard drive I had purchased. Everything worked well when I first started using it, and I was able to watch the videos from the external drive with no problem. Fast forward a few months, and I haven't even turned my laptop on once because my family moved to a new home etc. After getting settled I decided to continue copying my blurays to the external hard drive. After ripping g the first, I noticed that the video worked perfectly fine but there was no sound. So I tried a few other blurays but have come across the same issue. I have no idea how to fix this problem. I tried Uninstaller Makemkv and re-downloading it, but I still have the same issue. I don't know why I'm having this issue because the last time I used Makemkv I had zero issues with the sound for the movies I copied, and I have not touched it in a few months, so there is no way I changed anything. And I'm pretty sure it's nothing wrong with my laptop or the external hard drive because the movies I had originally copied still work with their sound. If there is anyone who can provide any help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Often in cases like this the culprit ends up being the playback software being used to play the ripped movie. Some movies only have DTS audio and some players, like Windows Media Player can not play DTS audio by default.

VLC can play most audio by default. What happens if you play the file with VLC?
