When will Makemkv be able to cope with reasonably up-to-date hardware?

Post by Lehmeier » Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:37 pm

Hello!
I would like to know when there will be a version of Makemkv that works with UHD and a reasonably up-to-date Pioneer player.
I have the following drive:

BD-RE Pioneer BD-RW BDR-S13U CGDL001019WL

It would be nice if I could finally get my DVDs, Blurays and UHDs to run on an external drive.

Then I would also buy Mankemkv, unfortunately it is worthless for me.

Many thanks in advance.

Yours sincerely, R.Lehmeier

My Pioneer BDR-S13U works pretty well with MakeMKV.

The trick to any Pioneer, of course, is to have old enough firmware. It was Pioneer's decision to update the firmware on all their drives specifically to disable LibreDrive support in MakeMKV and to prevent downgrading the firmware on a drive.

There are various ways to get a Pioneer drive that'll work with MakeMKV for UHD including via sellers on this forum.
