VLC Media Player + Make MKV Integration - Black Menus

Hi all, it's been great using MakeMKV for general ripping, but whenever I wanna use the integration with VLC I always see black menus. I mean that the menus are blacked out, so I can't tell what's selected, what the options are, or even how many options there are within the menu, just where the menu is supposed to be with a big black bar. Was just wondering if anyone else gets this and or if there is a solution for it. Thanks!
