Ability to preview audio tracks?

Post by bitfidelity » Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:41 am

On a technical level, how difficult would it be to implement an audio preview feature in MakeMKV? It would be incredibly helpful for those who only want to keep certain audio tracks, such as commentary.

Technically, an audio player would have to be integrated into MakeMKV, or an interface to one.

Removing audio tracks prior to ripping does not significantly affect ripping speed, so would it not be as fast to rip everything, then use tools like mkvmerge to remove the unwanted tracks after you preview them (in context) in your favorite player? You are limited by ripping speed only during the first step.

There is a way to "review" the audio tracks on BDs described here: https://makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... 679#p65655

You can use the backup to make MKV files after it finishes.

Why not simply play back the largest m2ts with VLC?
