Is MakeMKV still being developed?
My MakeMKV copy has expired and I must now pay. As far as I can see there's no purchase option from the homepage, the last official announcements in the forum is from 2010, and the latest version 1.10.5 is over one year old now and still beta. Is MakeMKV still being supported?
Re: Is MakeMKV still being developed?
Looks like Mike made a typo on the download page - if you notice that the previous version, "MakeMKV v1.10.4 (11.12.2016 )", the new version being from March of 2016 is "obviously" wrong. It was actually released in March of this year (2017).
The announcements dates are a sore point for many of us here - Mike apparently doesn't like creating new messages for announcements, because it requires link changes throughout the forum, so he just edits them with new information. So, the information is current, but the date is wrong.
As for "active development"... Mike (the author) hasn't been on the forum in a month, but I see evidence that he is responding to emails.
Link for buying is in the application itself; clicking on Help->Purchase will take you to /buy/ . I guess Mike thinks that is adequate, but it isn't obvious to a lot of people.
Regarding "beta" status - those of us who have been around here for a while kind of hope it never leaves beta status... In part because going to "production" status means a feature freeze.

Re: Is MakeMKV still being developed?
Thanks for this info, reassuring to know that it's not "actually" 7 years since the last announcement I guess it is still safe to buy a license then.
He really should put a link to the purchase page on the web, because the expired MakeMKV application just closes itself if you don't have already got a code (no way to find the buy link, perhaps maybe to google it).

I respectully disagree, moving the software out of beta (something I would support and I have been using MakeMKV for a while) may "freeze" features but does not mean that development would stop. I would go so far as to say the major development of MakeMVK as a conversion tool has ended (the user interface and experience hasn't changed dramatically in years, neither has the ability to create a .mkv file from a DVD, Blu-ray, etc) and the only ongoing development is an occasional bug fix and, of course, de-encryption - defeat of new protection schemes. The latter is something that will always be ongoing but would not preclude MakeMKV from moving out of "beta"; AnyDVD, a "fully baked" product, continues to produce updates and is not "beta".Woodstock wrote:Regarding "beta" status - those of us who have been around here for a while kind of hope it never leaves beta status... Again, no disrespect, just my 2 cents.

Re: Is MakeMKV still being developed?
What has happened with AnyDvd and Dvd Fab is that they've progressed to a certain version that requires a re-purchase. I don't know if MakeMKV has reached a saturation point yet but I would imagine an eventual non-beta release that requires an additional registration.
