Looked but not found any answers on movie narration issues

Post by buhlig » Sat Nov 26, 2016 11:48 pm

I have been having some issues with a few new Blu-ray disks that i want to back up having narrations throughout the movie which seem to be for the vision impaired. If someone has posted a solution to this or any other useful information I would be appreciative.

Thanks!

PS: the movies are Ice Age Collision Course and Independence Day Resurgence

From a backup, you should be able to select the correct audio track in your player. The narration (also known as "audio description") is a separate, special track, which should NOT be tagged as default, but your player seems to think it is. But, when using Backup, you get whatever the BD specified.

When you open the disk and save the titles to MKV files, you can deselect the audio description track, by clicking on the little triangle next to the title in the left menu; This expands the display to show you the tracks within the title. Simply un-check the tracks you do not want to save.

But which track is it? It isn't always marked in the meta data...

Which is why it is often wise to allow MakeMKV to pull all audio tracks, and then remove the unwanted ones after you have a chance to view the MKV file. I post-process everything with handbrake, but mkvtoolnix is faster if you do not want to recode everything, just remove tracks.

Thanks, I think I found how to fix it after reading your post. I was looking for it under the MakeMKV selections (I always remove everything except english for movies) but when I played it i had the narration. I didn't think to check the audio settings under handbrake before I converted to MP4. Under the audio i found 2 audio tracks and I removed the second track that must have been the narration.

Thanks!
