AVCHD files with metadata support
Starting from version 1.4.12 MakeMKV can open AVCHD files from any AVCHD-compatible digital camcorder. MakeMKV will preserve clip metadata and will automatically name output files by name and date. This feature is freeware. If you have an AVCHD camcorder please give it a try. Please post in this thread if MakeMKV doesn't recognize clip date/time or camcorder model or if this feature worked for you.
Re: AVCHD files with metadata support
I tried MakeMKV 1.4.12 beta with a Sony HDR-CX7 camcorder by navigating to G:\AVCHD\BDMV\INDEX.BDM on the memory stick.
I had to reduce the minimum title time to 30 seconds because of the short length of the clips
The filename title did not include the date/time from the clip, but the results look good to me. Here's the MediaInfo output for one of the files on the memory stick:
Great product! An easy way to convert clips to MKV.
Edit 03-08-2010: Version 1.5.0 beta detects the metadata from the AVCHD file and names the file by date and time.
However, MediaInfo reports the display aspect ratio as 4:3 not 16:9 as in the original file.

Re: AVCHD files with metadata support
It shoud have recognized AVCHD source but apparently it didn't. MakeMKV ignores "minimum title length" when it recognizes AVCHD source.
Please do the following:
Please do the following:
- format memory stick in your camcorder
- shoot 3 clips 1-3 seconds each
- copy all files from memory stick, compress with archiver of your choice and send to support@makemkv.com
Re: AVCHD files with metadata support
I encountered this error so I've sent three 3-sec clips with the latest version of MakeMKV as requested.mike admin wrote:It shoud have recognized AVCHD source but apparently it didn't. MakeMKV ignores "minimum title length" when it recognizes AVCHD source.
Please do the following:The whole point of AVCHD processing is so you get files named by timestamp rather than title0.mkv .
- format memory stick in your camcorder
- shoot 3 clips 1-3 seconds each
- copy all files from memory stick, compress with archiver of your choice and send to support@makemkv.com
Here's the info while processing:

I used a Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder. I am using the feature to the embed the date and time stamp in the subtitles so I'm hopeful this information will be preserved. Thanks.
